Professionals taking the 9A0-082: Adobe Flex 3 with AIR exam may choose to register through Pearson VUE or through Thomson Prometric. After taking the exam, a candidate's score is automatically electronically reported to Adobe. Professionals should receive their ACE Welcome Kit two to four weeks after passing the 9A0-082 exam. The 9A0-082 exam contains 50 questions, and 67% is the lowest possible passing score.
The largest portion of the exam will test a candidate's knowledge of programming Flex applications with ActionScript. To satisfactorily prove their knowledge of this portion of the exam, candidates must be able to demonstrate that they can define and extend an ActionScript class, implement an ActionScript interface, use access modifiers with classes, implement data validation, and manipulate XML data through the use of E4X. The questions on this portion of the exam will make up 24% of the total test.
An additional 22% of the exam will test a candidate's ability to create a User Interface (UI). To do well on this section of the exam, candidates must understand API styles, filers, blends, and style sheets. Candidates must also have a thorough understanding of UI containers, UI controls, Flex applications, constraint-based layouts, and list-based controls.
Twenty percent of the exam will cover using Flex in the Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR). The remainder of the exam will cover Flex system architecture and design and interacting with data sources and servers.
This is not a General Study Guide
Most study guides are pretty general about the subject at hand and give you an idea of what might be on the exam. I purchased the Adobe 9A0-082: Adobe Flex 3 with AIR exam guide from TestsForge and found it to be anything but general. This was a very in-depth guide that covered areas that I would have never thought of on my own and probably not in a study group either. They have experts on the panel of writers that know what you will come up against and they share that with you; they don't leave you guessing. Don't go for general; go for the best.
